💥1. Helping Our Neighbours

Just after 20:00 this past Friday, our Operations Manager investigated what looked like a power surge in Oranjezicht, only to discover a heavy motor vehicle accident on Montrose Avenue. Working seamlessly with OH Watch and DPVwatch, the necessary resources were quickly dispatched to take control of the scene. Because the truck had downed power lines, responders worked closely with Fire and Rescue to cordon off the hazard and keep bystanders away until the City Electricity Department took over. Thankfully, there were zero injuries, though one individual was arrested. We want to extend a huge shoutout to City of Cape Town Fire & Rescue, Traffic, the Electricity Department, Law Enforcement, CSO, LIFEEMS, and Metro Ambulance services. Thanks to this incredible multi-agency teamwork, the incident was successfully cleared just after midnight.

🌲2. SANParks Joint Ops

This past Tuesday night, our patrollers teamed up with SANParks for a joint operation in Kloof Nek Bos, just above Quarry Hill. Under SANParks’ lead, the team—including Rangers, the SEAM Team, and our dedicated patrollers—swept the woods to address illegal overnight sleeping. After scouring the zone from top to bottom, they located six individuals who were removed, fined, and taken to SAPS for processing. We are incredibly grateful to SANParks for including us in this successful initiative!

📸3. The Unblinking Eyes

Our team is constantly working to level up our neighbourhood’s safety. To boost our coverage, we are expanding our Overview (OV) camera network at key strategic locations. This rollout maximises our existing infrastructure, giving us crucial situational awareness across vital spots. The total cost to procure and install this first phase is R20,000, and we need your backing to cross the finish line. Every contribution, big or small, goes directly toward securing our streets.

🤝4. Let’s talk about locking

It’s been a long day; you pull into the driveway, head inside, and forget one crucial detail: locking your car. The next thing you know, your favourite pair of sunglasses is gone. Unfortunately, we’ve seen a recent spike in people leaving their cars unlocked. Locking up is a fundamental security step that takes less than five seconds. Please, always ensure your vehicle is secure when you walk away. While you’re at it, make sure no valuables are visible through the windows. It’s a small habit that makes a massive difference.
