TBKWatch Update: Operations, MVA’s and a Request
4 September 2026
Hi Neighbours!
Happy Spring! (Even if the wet and blustery weather didn’t quite get the memo.) The TBKWatch team has been incredibly busy this week, and we’ve packed all the latest updates right here for you. Grab a warm drink, sit back, and let’s catch up on all things TBKLand.
👮♀️1. Operation Bin Miner
This past Wednesday morning, TBKWatch joined forces with Metro Police and the SAPS for a proactive operation focusing on bin miners in the neighbourhood. The team spoke with several individuals and conducted fingerprint checks using mobile data terminals. The morning was a great success! A big thank you to Metro Police and the SAPS for their ongoing support—expect to see more of these joint operations in the near future.

💥2. MVA in Belle Ombre
On Wednesday afternoon, a Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) was reported on Belle Ombre Road. Our Operations Manager and Fidelity-ADT W02 responded quickly and found that a moving car had collided with a parked vehicle. WatchCom seamlessly coordinated in the background to ensure the right emergency teams arrived promptly. Thankfully, there were no injuries, and the road was cleared and reopened shortly after. We extend our thanks to Metro Police and the Fire & Rescue service for their swift assistance.

🚰3. Water Meter Thefts – What to Do?
Ward 77 is experiencing a high number of water meter thefts. Ward Councillor Francine Higham urges residents to stay vigilant. If your meter is stolen, please follow these steps:
- Emergencies: If suspects are still in the area, call 021 480 7700.
- Get a Replacement: Call the City at 0860 107 089 to log a service request (you will need your municipal account number). Expect a replacement within 24 hours. Escalate delays to [email protected].
- Report to SAPS: Open a case via 10111. (Quote ~R2,400 for older meters or ~R2,100 for new plastic ones). This is crucial for crime stats, even though the City doesn’t require a case number for replacements.
- Tell TBKWatch: Report the incident to us so we can check CCTV and track local hotspots. 👀
If you see suspicious activity, don’t put yourself at risk—report it immediately!
