TBKWatch Update: LPR Success, Responses & A Note

🕵️♂️1. The LPR Chronicles
On Friday afternoon, just after 16:00, the unmarked LPR team (made up of our Ops Manager and members from CBCID) was activated to track down a vehicle involved in a theft the previous day. The team quickly located the car on Signal Hill Road, where they observed the occupants stealing a bicycle. Thanks to swift coordination with SANParks, the vehicle was intercepted, and two suspects were detained. SAPS arrived on the scene, and after the complainant positively identified the bicycle, the suspects were arrested. This is the true power of the LPR network and teamwork. Well done to all!
🔥2. Two for One
Monday afternoon brought unexpected drama when our Operations Manager responded to a medical incident on De Lorentz Road. Right in the middle of treating the patient, a bakkie pulled up just a few meters away and burst into flames! Switching instantly from medic to firefighter, our Ops Manager tackled the blaze using extinguishers from nearby businesses and a resident’s hose. WatchCom provided excellent backup, coordinating with Fire, Law Enforcement, Traffic, and Ambulance services. The fire was successfully put out, and the patient was transported safely to the hospital. A fantastic, multi-tasking effort—well done, everyone!
📸3. Your camera, our safety
Our street camera project, in partnership with Fidelity-ADT, is gaining serious traction across TBKLand! We are incredibly excited about this project and the massive safety benefits it brings to our neighbourhood. Please see our flyer below.
We are also expanding our Overview (OV) camera network at key strategic locations. This rollout maximises our existing infrastructure, giving us crucial situational awareness across vital spots. The total cost to procure and install this first phase is R20,000, and we need your backing to cross the finish line. Every contribution, big or small, goes directly toward securing our streets.

🧱4. JvR Primary Construction
Neighbours, we have received the following announcement from JvR Primary School:
Please be aware that construction work will take place at JvR Primary School on Monday, 31 August, from 08:00 to 20:00, which may affect traffic flow in New Church Street.
Several construction vehicles will be arriving from around 08:00, with some waiting along New Church Street near the car wash.
If possible, please use alternative routes and allow extra time when travelling through the area.
